Assessment, learning, and progression — held in one framework.
Delivered across Hillingdon, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Bedfordshire — at Nathan's Farm, Chesham Youth Centre, Denham Community Centre, Bletsoe Village Hall and Oxford City Farm, and online and at home. Every session and assessment is specialist-led, planned in advance, and mapped to EHCP outcomes and qualification goals.

Five settings across four counties, each chosen because it gives a different kind of learner a way back in — land and animals, a flexible SEND learning environment, sport, an independence-focused community hub, and a working city farm. All within the same safeguarding, staffing and assessment framework.

Nathan's Farm
Farm-based alternative provision built around animal care, equine learning, land work and accredited practical skills. KCL's current priority programme, and home of the Farm School.

Chesham Youth Centre
A flexible SEND learning environment rather than a single-purpose arts venue: a dedicated arts room, kitchen, coffee bar, games room and outdoor court, so a programme can move between creative work, living skills, sport and quiet learning.

Denham Community Centre
Sport and active learning — football, physical activity and outdoor gym work, with Functional Skills English, maths and Digital Skills taught alongside for learners who settle through movement.

Bletsoe Village Hall
KCL's North Bedford hub — small-scale, personalised SEND, AP and EOTAS programmes built around independence, community participation, music and creative arts, with a hall, terrace and playing field for practical and outdoor learning.

Oxford City Farm
Farm-based provision on a working city farm — animal care rounds, growing and land-based projects and a teaching kitchen, running the same regulation-first model as Nathan's Farm but reachable on a bus route.
Nathan's Farm, Chesham Youth Centre, Denham Community Centre, Bletsoe Village Hall and Oxford City Farm are independent sites. KCL delivers its provision at each of them by arrangement, and does not own or operate the premises.

Accredited vocational pathways combining AQA UAS, NCFE, Functional Skills and practical learning in real-world environments, with supported progression towards further education, industry pathways, work experience, apprenticeships and employment.
How progression works
Interests first. Progression follows.
One model runs through every KCL pathway. It is deliberately sequential: skipping to the end is how provision breaks down for the learners we work with.

Interests
We start with what a young person will willingly do. Animals, a ball, a kitchen, a camera — the door has to open before anything else can happen.

Engagement
Attendance and participation are built slowly and then protected. A learner who is present and settled is a learner who can be taught.
- 03
Skills
Practical, functional and academic skills are taught inside the activity, so they are learned in the place they will actually be used.
- 04
Achievement
Progress is recorded, and accredited wherever accreditation helps — unit awards, Functional Skills, Arts Award, vocational routes.

Progression
The programme points at a real next step: school, college, training, supported employment, or a more independent adult life.

KCL offers accredited routes in two directions: recognised qualifications for the children and young people we teach, and training delivered to the organisations that work alongside us. Both are shaped around what the people in front of us actually need next.

Traditional classrooms can heighten anxiety, sensory overload, and avoidance. The Eco Classroom offers reduced sensory demand, clear routines, trusted adults, and real-world contexts to apply learning — and evidence it through accessible assessment.
